Series 5 of record group 58-17 consists of a fragment of a map (ca. 1837) of the canal route on sections 24, 23, 26, 27, 34, 33, 32, 31, 6, 1, 12, 11, 14, 15, 22, 27, & 28 in T.2 & 3 N., R. 12 & 13 W., originally collected by the Michigan Lands Division. The area mapped is in Allegan County. The canal itself was probably never built, or maybe was part of the Clinton and Kalamazoo Canal. The map is in two pieces, the first is 19 3/4" x 21", the second is 19 1/2" x 20 1/2" in size, with a horizontal scale of 40 chns. : 1 inch and a vertical scale of 80 feet : 1 inch.
